Het Gouden Ei

Rex Hoffman and Saskia Ehlvest have been in the car all day to their holiday destination in the far south of France. At about seven o'clock they are about an hour from where they will spend the night. They stop at a gas station. Something incomprehensible happens there.

When Saskia goes to get a drink, she disappears without a trace. Nobody has seen anything and years later every trace is still missing. Rex gets a new girlfriend, he picks up the thread of his life again, but the thought of what happened to Saskia doesn't let go of him.

"But do you know what's worst? Not knowing. With two cans in front of the door and tjoep, gone [...] You can do those thought games about that. Then I am told, for example, that she lives somewhere, she is very happy and all that. And then I can choose: she will live on like this, or I will find out everything in exchange for her death."

Then one day Rex will receive a message from someone who seems to know exactly what happened and is willing to tell Rex.
